Please note: the J$1,500 fee is for the lookup. If a ticket has passed its court date, it can't be paid online. We give you the details so you can sort it out with the court, and the lookup fee is not refunded.

What are TAJ's registration fees by engine size?
Your TAJ government registration fee is tied to the engine capacity (cc rating) printed on your C88 Logbook. These are the 12-month base rates:

If your fitness has expired, TAJ's fitness fee is added. It depends on your vehicle class:

Can unpaid traffic tickets block my renewal?
Yes. TAJ cross-references police and court databases. Unpaid traffic tickets or missed court dates tied to the registered owner's TRN or the plate number automatically block online registration until they are cleared.
Fines are settled at the Traffic Court, and the hold must be cleared in the system before the renewal can go through.
Not sure what is on your record? We can look up your traffic tickets from photos of the front and back of your driver's licence, then pay them for you. The lookup is J$1,500 per session, separate from a renewal.
Can I renew for 6, 12 or 24 months?
Yes. You choose how long to renew your motor vehicle registration:
- 6 months: half the 12-month rate, for example J$6,300 for a standard 1.5L car.
- 12 months: the standard renewal period.
- 24 months: TAJ lets you pay two years upfront at double the 12-month fee, with no surcharge.
Why must I take the vehicle to the depot myself?
An expired fitness certificate requires a mechanical roadworthiness check. The Island Traffic Authority (ITA) must physically inspect the vehicle's lights, tyres and structure, and verify that the chassis (VIN) and engine numbers match the C88 logbook.
Our fitness pre-pay removes the Tax Office payment line and handles the final registration portal. TAJ needs your TRN and your vehicle class to take the fitness fee, so we ask for both. We get the fee paid, leaving you to drive through the depot inspection.
