What we do, and what you do

We do

  • Look up the traffic tickets recorded against your licence
  • Tell you what we find

You do

  • Send photos of the front and back of your licence

The lookup needs your licence number, date of birth, original issue date and control number. All four are on your licence.

We use your photos only for this lookup. See our Privacy page.

5 · Good to know

Who is this service for?

Drivers renewing an expired Class B or Class C licence who can visit a TAJ office in person to collect the new card.

We do not offer proxy collection. If your licence is lost or stolen, the replacement is done in person at TAJ by the licence holder.

Why do renewals get blocked at the counter?

TAJ cross-references police and court databases in real time. An unpaid ticket or missed court date locks your profile, and fines must be settled at the Traffic Court and cleared before TAJ can issue a new licence.

Older licences issued before central database integration often lack a direct link to your TRN. If the name spelling differs slightly from your TRN profile, the transaction is rejected until the record is checked. Our pre-audit catches both problems before you pay.

Not sure what is on your record? A ticket lookup is J$1,500, separate from the renewal.

What are TAJ's licence fees and turnaround?

TAJ government fees are paid directly to the agency and are separate from our fee.

Class B renewal (private, 5-year)J$5,400
Class C renewal (commercial or general, 5-year)J$7,200
Substitute licence (lost or stolen, paid in person)J$4,140

Same-day printing is available at designated Revenue Service Centres and tax offices. Drop-off offices batch applications to a regional printing hub, with up to a 20-business-day turnaround.

Can I drive while I wait for my new licence?

Yes, for up to 60 days. Your official TAJ payment receipt, kept with your expired licence, is a valid permit to drive on Jamaican roads for up to 60 days from the date of payment. This applies to renewals paid online.

Keep the receipt in the vehicle and collect your new card within the 60 days.
